4000 fraudulent insurance claims per week
More than 4,000 seized cars could be impounded per week after a report has been announced that motorists’ have been knowingly providing false information in order to receive cheaper car insurance.
It has been reported that insurance companies are receiving 4,000 fraudulent applications per week in order to get cheaper car insurance. These possible seized cars have been reported to include misleading or fraudulent applications that include a cheaper post code address, ‘forgetting’ previous offences, and failing to provide accurate information.
These applications are not the only ones at risk of having the impound full of seized cars. According to Mark Allen, the ABI’s fraud and financial crime manager, said: “Insurers recognise that innocent mistakes and oversights happen. But anyone lying to get cheaper motor insurance, or tempted by cheap insurance offers without first checking that they are genuine, risks driving illegally.
The ABI (Association of British Insurers) is also warning against an increased number of “ghost broking” scams which will result in even more seized cars. These brokers are completely false and are selling fake policies to many people in Britain. Whilst these ghost brokers may seem like legitimate companies with professional looking websites, the insurance they sell is completely worthless. If anything you will be out of pocket for having no insurance resulting in seized cars.
You can easily check a company by checking their company registration number and regulatory body to ensure that the company is registered and is completely safe.
